Meet our hip hop instructors!
Cecilia Hughner: Monday classes
Cecilia Hughner is currently a student at Horizon High School. She developed her love for dance four years ago and has enjoyed being a part of dance at Plumb Dance, where she explores different styles of dance, especially hip hop! Cecilia started out in Do Re Mi at Summer Company, where she played the role of Sally Brown in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. This year, Cecilia is a sophomore in Do Re Mi’s elite touring show choir, Encore, and is beyond excited to be a part of the Do Re Mi family. Dancing is one of her favorite things to do because it gives her so many different ways to express herself while having fun and putting energy into it. She has loved every minute of teaching hip hop and is excited to continue her teaching journey at Do Re Mi.
Sophia Matin: Tuesday classes
Sophia Matin is super excited to be one of new hip hop teachers at Do Re Mi School of the Arts! She has a unique story with regard to her education and training. She graduated high school last May at the age of 16 while concurrently attending Scottsdale Community College. This year, Sophia is a junior in Do Re Mi’s elite touring show choir, Encore while at the same time she is a sophomore at Scottsdale Community College, where she is majoring in Theatre. She has been involved in dance and theatre since the age of three and has trained in all styles of dance. As a student, Sophia has trained both locally with Bricks Dance Studio and in New York City with many Broadway choreographers and actors. This past summer Sophia competed at Nationals in Las Vegas after placing 1st at regionals with her dance competition team. At Nationals, she placed in the top ten in both her solo and group routine and received second place overall in the voice competition. Sophia has also been in over 40 theatre productions throughout the valley and is excited to pass her love of it all to her students. Sophia loves participating in the arts as well as inspiring others to find their love for the arts. She is excited to begin her journey as the new hip hop teacher for Do Re Mi School of the Arts!
