Summer Company Philosophy

When you see a Summer Company show, you'll notice that it's a bit of a challenge to follow the lead characters, as the faces keep changing. We are very proud of this little quirk as it sets Do Re Mi School of the Arts apart from every other children's theatre company in town. We believe that theatre can and should be a character building, learning experience, as well as fun and rewarding. We also believe that participating in the arts builds confidence and self-esteem. We do this by double- and even triple-casting the leads. Casting is based on a variety of factors including age, work ethic, talent, and dedication. Our youngest members often start as chorus members and work their way up to speaking parts. This teaches our students that no matter your talent, everyone must pay their dues. We teach our students that it's not about what role you get or how many lines you may have; that theatre, just like any team sport, is about everyone working together to achieve the same goal. If you can make a starring role out of being in the chorus, you will have what it takes to succeed in theatre, and more importantly, in life. Over the years, we have found that the students understand and appreciate the fairness of our philosophy. We have also found that our parents appreciate the valuable lessons their children learn while in our program. The end result is a fabulous production put on by a TEAM of talented performers.

“The Wizard of Oz” - Summer Company 2019

What our parents and students say about Summer Company...

Both of my daughters participated in the Do Re Mi Fine Arts Camp this summer & had the best time! Whenever I would pick them up they didn't want to leave! I could tell they were learning new skills, building friendships and having a ton of fun. The performance(s) at the end of camp are the icing on the cake- so happy I chose a camp where I could see at the end everything they had been working on throughout the 3 weeks of camp. They both had wonderful things to say about Lindsey & Michael and the camp counselors. Highly recommend Do Re Mi School of the Arts!

My daughter was nervous to start camp with a new group of people and everyone at Do Re Mi was so welcoming and made her feel right at home. It’s all she talks about now and keeps asking me to sign her up again!

A friend recommended this program so we decided to give it a try. My child attended the summer theater camp and it was so above and beyond my expectations- seriously impressive with the positive energy, fun, and extras they planned. The owners are just the kindest people. My daughter can’t wait to be back in the Fall.

I was a part of Do Re Mi for many years of my life, and my time spent there are some of the memories I hold closest to my heart. Not only was it an excellent creative outlet, and provided opportunity for me to experiment and try something new, it was also a great place for a shy kid to make friends and receive support. Fantastic program!

My 2 daughters did the Do Re Mi Summer Camp and absolutely loved it! They had zero experience with musical theater prior to the camp, and they ended the 3 weeks with confidence and some new skills. And they both want to return next year! The counselors were all great, and the camp is very well organized, fun, and nurturing for all skill levels. I highly recommend Do Re Mi to any families!

The Do Re Mi school of the arts put on a wonderful summer camp. They take kids from the beginning of production to the end so kids can learn the entire process. Our son really enjoyed, there was before and after care available. The best part was the production in this case Oliver. It was super cute and entertaining! Highly recommend!
